All WSM Everything continues.

Tomato-Basil fettuccine (from @OhioCityPasta) tossed with sautéed zucchini and diced tomatoes. Looks like springtime to me.

Linguini with White Wine pan sauce
Based off Fudehouse’s method - but using some of his suggestions for stuff to add. In this case, Parmesan cheese and a touch of cream (I went with fat-free half-and-half because that’s all I had in my fridge). I’ve used this pan sauce twice now, and it’s been amazing both times.
At this point, my blog should be called Awesome Dishes Fudehouse Told Me To Make; because I can’t stop trying them - and they’ve all been spot on (and relatively easy).
I guess the picture does nothing to show off how great these were (I mean, it’s just a good picture of an average-looking bowl of noodles, at the end of the day). But trust me when I say they were incredible. And easy!

How to make the prison feast from Goodfellas
One of my favorite scenes from one of my favorite movies. Now I think I have to set three hours aside this weekend just to watch this one again. Come to think of it, that sounds like a perfect amount of time for the sauce to cook…

Linguine alla Carbonara con Tartufo at DC Pasta Company in Strongsville, Ohio
Fresh pasta tossed with pancetta and truffled cream; topped with a poached egg.
My love for runny yolks is pretty well documented (Here, here, and here; for example). And at this rate, my love for this restaurant will be pretty well documented as well. This is in the top five pasta dishes I’ve ever had.

Bucatini con Salsa di Agnello at DC Pasta Company in Strongsville, Ohio
Tomato-braised Lamb and Mint
This, as well as everything else we ordered, was fantastic. The Cozze con Salsicca (Mussels with Spicy Sausage) are a must-have.
Overall, I couldn’t agree more with the Cleveland Scene review (“Pasta Perfect”) for this place.

Seafood Cioppino at Eddie’s Pizzeria Cerino in Seven Hills, Ohio
I’ve already posted about this place, and I try not to double-post; but I’ve been wanting to do a Cioppino post forever.
Whenever I see this tomato-y bowl of seafood and pasta on the menu, I have to get it. I ordered it during my last trip to Vegas, but the picture was so dark I didn’t end up posting it. So here you go. This was on special, though, and I’m not sure how long they’re going to have it as a featured item.
If you’re a seafood person like me, you just have to get this. So good.

Homemade Pasta tossed in Olive Oil, Garlic, and Parmesan Cheese; topped with Cherry Tomatoes.
Must remember next time: 1) less eggs, 2) more kneading, 3) roll thinner.

Roasted Eggplant and Garlic Raviloi at Eddie’s Pizzeria Cerino in Seven Hills, Ohio
Red Pepper Pasta filled with Roasted Eggplant and Garlic; topped with a Vermouth sauce, Mushrooms, and Spinach.
This was the full portion - eight ravioli (there’s one hidden in the middle there); but it didn’t matter because I couldn’t resist the bread and olive oil. It’s pretty common place for Italian joints to do that (I can’t think of one that doesn’t), but this bread was not pretty common. It was awesome. It didn’t even really need the olive oil - but come on, that’s never stopped me before.
The ravioli was great. Not sure I got a whole bunch of the eggplant taste. But the garlic (you can smell it before you walk in the door) was front and center along with the Vermouth sauce. Sweet, but not too sweet. Perfectly brought everything together.
See also: pretty regular Groupons and happy hour specials ($4 wines, $2/dozen mussels).

Second Course at Zola during Restaurant Week in Washington, DC
Balsamic Skirt Steak (Balsamic Crust, Blue Cheese, Potato Croutons, Wild Mushrooms, Caramelized Onions), Parmesan Pasta Salad, Kumato Tomato Salad, and a Chocolate Cupcake with Butter Cream Frosting
I thought it was pretty cool that this “Business Lunch” combination is regularly priced at $20, so we scored a starter and a dessert for 11 cents. Pretty sweet bargain.
I loved everything about this “TV dinner tray” when it arrived at our table. The pasta salad was similar to Miller’s Chicken (my favorite) and the tomatoes were dressed in balsamic (another one of my favorite tastes), which paired awesomely with the Skirt Steak. And the steak. Wow. The onions and mushrooms were complex and almost earthy, and the steak was extremely tender. I definitely didn’t expect it to be that good, but it was. And to top it off, a little cupcake.
I would have been satisfied if that counted as the dessert course; but when our waiter handed us the menu with the day’s after-lunch offerings, I couldn’t help but order a modern twist on one of America’s oldest desserts.

Brisket Platter at Bib’s Downtown in Winston-Salem, NC
Brisket, Mac ‘N Cheese, Slaw, Hush Puppies, and Toast
Previously I wrote about their Chinese/BBQ fusion Pulled Pork Egg Rolls. In addition to that, I went with the tried a true - the Brisket platter. The toast was completely useless, but everything else was extremely good. Best Hush Puppies I’ve ever had. They had so much more flavor than just the boring throw-ins you normally get.
I almost pulled over on our way home from New Bern, but considering we had just stopped about 30 minutes before, I didn’t pull the trigger. Definitely worth of a second look.

Traditional Lasagna from Gentile’s in Cleveland, Ohio
Where else do you get lasagna with this many layers? I’ve counted a few times and I ended up getting between 12 and 15, depending what counts as a “layer”.
In addition to this “traditional” version (with ground beef on many layers), we also had a vegetable lasagna that was just as good.
