Boneless Ribeye I made for Sunday dinner on the weekend of my friend’s birthday. Because I’m a good friend like that.
Also, I’ve got to say that Sunday dinner is becoming one of the highlights to my week. A random cast of characters comes over each week and I have all day to think up and create some good eats. For the first few weeks, we had a vegetarian among us so I made everything except one protein meat-free, and it was a cool way to kind of expand our horizons.

Frenched Pork Chop at Nicolinni’s in Boardman, Ohio
Wrapped in bacon and cooked on a wood-fired grill. Been on a pork chop kick ever since I had Lolita’s. This one ranks under Michael Symon’s, but only slightly. Incredibly juicy and smokey (via the bacon and grilling).
I wouldn’t make the hour drive just for this meal; but I have a three week old nephew that lives about five minutes away. So that should provide an acceptable excuse for years to come.

Flat Iron Steak; Crescent Roll; Corn on the Cobb; and Grilled Zucchini, Mushrooms, and Onions.
Pretty standard summer dinner around these parts.
The steak was thinner in one part, so I was able to get that to medium/medium-well while keeping the fatter part (pictured) medium-rare.
Here’s a picture of the whole steak on the grill.

Pepper Steak at PF Chang’s in Las Vegas, Nevada
In honor of my impending return to the desert on Sunday (three days from today!), I wanted to post something from my previous trip.
Normally, I try to stay away from chain restaurants whenever I can. I’d much rather try something “different”, “out there”, and/or “local” when I travel. Chain restaurants just kind of suck. But after a few frustrating (gambling-wise) days, and after seeing the opening of The Cosmopolitan; we wanted something simple. Something that we knew we could just go in and get a seat at.
My friend and I split the Prix-Fixe which included a shared appetizer (Salt & Pepper Calamari), an individual soup (I chose Hot & Sour), an individual entree, and a shared dessert (Cheesecake). I chose the pepper steak for my entree, and boy did I not regret it. After eating Jefferson Dining Hall’s “Pepper Steak” for half of my college career (a chewy concoction with some mystery meat), I was blown away by this dish. The meat practically melted in my mouth and the sauce was both sweet and spicy.
I have to say I’m probably not going back there on this trip… but if I’m near Planet Hollywood and I just want some Chinese comfort food, I know where I’m coming.

"The Blaze" at O’Bettys Red Hot in Athens, Ohio
Homemade creamy Coleslaw and smokey Bacon top this All-Beef Natural Casing Hot Dog. The combination is something that everyone’s gotta experience at least once before they graduate.
After getting it from the walk-up window late at night on many occasions, I finally got to eat inside a few weeks ago. Cross another thing off my OU bucket list…
